Harvesting Hope

Hello Subaru of Valencia’s unwavering commitment has led to an incredible milestone, providing over 200 meals, doubling their impact from the previous year, and touching the lives of almost 1,000 individuals. This initiative not only brought a Thanksgiving meal to families in need but also created memories for these families to remember years from now. Hello Subaru partnered with a few local nonprofits like the Boys and Girls Club, Circle of Hope, Family Promise, Child and Family Center, Santa Clarita Veterans Services Collaborative, and the Michael Hoefflin Foundation to host its second annual ‘Hello Gives Thanks’ turkey drive. These nonprofit partnerships help families who are facing challenges such as cancer, homelessness, domestic violence, supporting our veterans, families who have children with cancer, and those struggling this holiday season. This event aimed to reduce the Thanksgiving burden for families in the Santa Clarita area. With rising food prices, the Hello Subaru team recognized the significance of easing this strain on families. Especially knowing that 8.27% of the Santa Clarita population (18.6k out of 225k people) lives below the poverty line, a rate lower than the national average of 12.6%. Hello Subaru of Valencia’s efforts through this Turkey drive significantly impacted a community where many struggle to make ends meet. The day before Thanksgiving, the dealership was transformed into an organized two-line drive with a seamless distribution process. Each family received two tote bags filled with Thanksgiving sides such as mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce, green beans, mushroom soup, and fried onions, along with a choice of turkey or ham, as well as bilingual recipes on how to make a turkey and green bean casserole. The impact of Hello Subaru’s efforts was noticed, and the families shared how grateful they were for this initiative. Gratitude flowed through messages like, “Thank you for our countless blessings! Have a blessed Thanksgiving Day!” and “Our family truly appreciates it. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.” The involvement of over 20 volunteers was pivotal in coordinating the event, from packing meal kits, handing out the groceries, and putting a smile on people’s faces. The decision behind the chosen kits reflects the Subaru team’s personal experiences with these items, emphasizing the importance of family and sharing the warmth of their traditions with those in need. Larger families received two kits, ensuring sufficient Thanksgiving meal, while each family received a generous turkey weighing over 20 pounds. This initiative gave hope and spread love to all those who were involved.
